Abstract:
A method for controlling an input clutch of a vehicle transmission during a tip-in includes using a current gear and rate of change of transmission input speed to determine a first torque modifier, if a peak or trough occurred in input speed, using the current gear and a difference between measured input speed and expected input speed to determine a second torque modifier, and changing a torque capacity of the clutch using said modifiers.

System And Method For Controlling A Window Wiper System

View page
US Patent:
20080263807, Oct 30, 2008
Filed:
Apr 30, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/742087
Inventors:
Zhang Yan - Northville MI, US
Amer Malik - Shelby Township MI, US
Zhengyu Dai - Canton MI, US
Issa Aljanabi - Windsor, CA
Assignee:
FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60S 1/08
US Classification:
1525012
Abstract:
A windshield wiper system for use on a hybrid electric vehicle is capable of adjusting the delay between consecutive cycles based on engine state and vehicle speed. The system includes a windshield wiper and a motor coupled to the windshield wiper. A sensor generates an engine speed signal and another sensor generates a vehicle speed signal. A processor in communication with the sensors and wiper motor provides a drive signal to the wiper motor which is based on the engine and vehicle speed.

Damping Oscillations During A Gear Ratio Change Of A Dual Clutch Powershift Transmission

View page
US Patent:
20110307150, Dec 15, 2011
Filed:
Jun 15, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/815849
Inventors:
Hong Jiang - Canton MI, US
Zhengyu Dai - Canton MI, US
Matthew J. Shelton - Grosse Ile MI, US
Assignee:
FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
G06F 19/00
B60W 30/18
B60W 10/02
US Classification:
701 54, 477 77
Abstract:
A method for controlling an upshift in a vehicle transmission includes transferring engine torque from an offgoing clutch to an oncoming clutch, using a torque capacity of the offgoing clutch to dampen oscillations when a difference between a speed of a transmission offgoing input and a calculated expected speed of said input is greater than a reference speed difference, and modulating engine torque during a ratio change phase of the shift.

Pre-Staging And Boosting For Downshifts To Increase Regenerative Braking

View page
US Patent:
20130292223, Nov 7, 2013
Filed:
May 7, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/465654
Inventors:
Felix Nedorezov - Rochester Hills MI, US
Hong Jiang - Birmingham MI, US
Matthew John Shelton - Grosse Ile MI, US
Zhengyu Dai - Canton MI, US
Assignee:
FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC - Dearborn MI
International Classification:
B60W 10/11
US Classification:
192220
Abstract:
A hybrid vehicle has a battery, a regenerative braking system, a transmission, and a controller. The controller boosts and strokes a hydraulic cylinder of an on-coming clutch when the state-of-charge of the battery allows regenerative braking and in response to a pedal actuation. The controller boosts and strokes the hydraulic cylinder before a disconnect clutch is opened and the transmission is downshifted to increase regenerative braking efficiency.
