Adjustable Support Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
6397763, Jun 4, 2002
Filed:
May 17, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/859235
Inventors:
Thomas A. Panzarella - Blue Bell PA
David D. McClanahan - Harleysville PA
Assignee:
Cook Technologies, Inc. - Green Lane PA
International Classification:
A47B 1100
US Classification:
108138, 2482841, 108145
Abstract:
An adjustable support apparatus for supporting an object, such as a keyboard. The apparatus has a rotatable support arm to which a rotatable support member is attached. Rotation of the support arm allows the height of the support plate to be adjusted. Rotation of the support member allows its inclination to be adjusted. A four bar linkage mechanism ensures that the inclination of the support member remains constant despite variation in the angular orientation of the support arm. The support arm is locked from downward rotation by the interaction of a ring segment, formed on one of the links of the four bar linkage mechanism, with pins projecting from the base. The locking is disengaged by tilting the support member upward. A ratchet and pawl mechanism locks the inclination of the support member.

Lift And Carrier Assembly For A Personal-Transport Vehicle

View page
US Patent:
6692215, Feb 17, 2004
Filed:
Feb 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/077535
Inventors:
Thomas A. Panzarella - Blue Bell PA
David D. McClanahan - Harleysville PA
Assignee:
Cook Technologies, Inc. - Green Lane PA
International Classification:
B60P 900
US Classification:
414462, 414921
Abstract:
A presently-preferred embodiment of a lift and carrier assembly for a personal-transport vehicle comprises a lifting column, an actuator mechanism adapted to lift the lifting column, a pivot plate rotatably coupled to the lifting column, a platform fixedly coupled to the pivot plate, a cam follower coupled to the pivot plate, and a cam member being fixed in relation to the lifting column so that lifting of the lifting column causes the cam follower to contact the cam member thereby generating a contact force between the cam follower and the cam member. The cam follower is biased so that the contact force prevents the cam follower from being lifted when a weight acting on the platform is below a predetermined value thereby causing the pivot plate to rotate about the lifting column in response to the lifting of the lifting column.

Device For Securing A Personal-Transport Vehicle To A Lift And Carrier Assembly

View page
US Patent:
6837666, Jan 4, 2005
Filed:
Apr 19, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/126791
Inventors:
Thomas A. Panzarella - Blue Bell PA, US
David D. McClanahan - Harleysville PA, US
Assignee:
Cook Technologies, Inc. - Green Lane PA
International Classification:
B60P 3073
US Classification:
414462, 248503, 296 651, 297DIG 4, 410 7, 410 22, 410 80, 414921
Abstract:
A presently-preferred device for securing a personal-transport vehicle to a platform comprises a trunnion member adapted to be fixedly coupled to the personal-transport device and comprising a first and a second trunnion. The presently-preferred device also comprises a receptacle comprising a yoke arm adapted to be fixedly coupled to the platform and comprising two side panels each having a slot formed therein. The receptacle further comprises two hook levers pivotally coupled to the respective side panels. The hook levers are pivotally biased so that the hook levers contact respective trunnions and interfere with movement thereof toward open ends of the slots when the platform is in an upper position, whereby the trunnion member is secured to the receptacle.

Device For Securing A Personal-Transport Vehicle To A Mounting Surface

View page
US Patent:
7108466, Sep 19, 2006
Filed:
May 27, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/854986
Inventors:
Thomas A. Panzarella - Harleysville PA, US
David D. McClanahan - Harleysville PA, US
Assignee:
Cook Technologies, Inc. - Green Lane PA
International Classification:
B60P 3/06
US Classification:
410 7
Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of a device for securing a personal-transport vehicle to a mounting surface includes one of a plow bracket and a bracket member for mounting on one of the personal-transport vehicle and the mounting surface, and a receptacle for mounting on the other of the personal transport vehicle and the mounting surface and for mating with and receiving the one of a plow bracket and a bracket member. The receptacle includes a panel and a docking lever pivotally coupled to the panel and movable between a first position wherein docking lever retains the one of a plow bracket and a bracket member so that the receptacle and the one of a plow bracket and a bracket member remain in a mated condition, and a second position.

Roller Assembly For A Lifting Device For A Personal-Transportation Vehicle

View page
US Patent:
7182319, Feb 27, 2007
Filed:
Jun 21, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/873350
Inventors:
Thomas A. Panzarella - Harleysville PA, US
David D. McClanahan - Harleysville PA, US
International Classification:
B66D 3/04
US Classification:
254390
Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of a roller assembly for a lifting device for a personal-transportation vehicle includes a shaft member for mounting on a lifting arm assembly of the lifting device and having an outer surface, and a roller member for supporting a lifting strap of the lifting device. The roller member has an inner surface defining a central passage for receiving the shaft and contacting the outer surface. The inner and outer surfaces have complementary profiles that permit a relative orientation of the roller member and the shaft member to change so that a weight vector acting through the lifting strap can remain substantially perpendicular to an axial centerline of the roller member.

US Patent:
7377740, May 27, 2008
Filed:
Apr 22, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/830252
Inventors:
Thomas A. Panzarella - Harleysville PA, US
David D. McClanahan - Harleysville PA, US
Assignee:
Cook Technologies, Inc. - Green Lane PA
International Classification:
B60P 1/54
US Classification:
414543, 414462, 414542, 414921, 212180, 212347, 254265, 254279, 254292
Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of a lifting device includes a mounting column having a first major portion extending in a first direction, and a second major portion fixedly coupled to the first major portion and extending in a second direction. The lifting device also comprises a lifting arm rotatably mounted on the second major portion of the mounting column and having a first hole formed therein for receiving a pin, a bracket fixedly coupled to the second portion of the mounting column and having a second hole formed therein for receiving the pin so that the pin restrains the lifting arm from substantial rotation about the second major portion of the mounting column, and a retaining member secured to the second major portion of the mounting column so that the bracket and the retaining member restrain the lifting arm from substantial movement in the second direction.
