Multi-Stage Sample Rate Converter

View page
US Patent:
7233268, Jun 19, 2007
Filed:
Jun 3, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/422071
Inventors:
Lekun Lin - San Jose CA, US
Sheng Lin - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
RDW, Inc. - Milpitas CA
International Classification:
H03M 7/00
US Classification:
341 61, 341143
Abstract:
Architectures of multi-stage sample rate converters are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a received signal with a higher sampling rate is converted to a lower sampling rate. To prevent aliasing in the resultant signal, an anti-aliasing filter is introduced. The passband of the anti-aliasing filter is so adjusted according to the conversation rate of a sample rate converter. To keep the implementation relatively simple, the coefficients of the filter are kept constant. Therefore, the conversation rate of a sample rate converter is constrained in a limited range, thus requiring only a constant anti-aliasing filter. A series of halfband filters are then used to convert the signal to a desired sampling rate.

Scan Line To Block Re-Ordering Buffer For Image Compression

View page
US Patent:
7496235, Feb 24, 2009
Filed:
Aug 3, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/195689
Inventors:
Sheng Lin - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
Micron Technology, Inc. - Boise ID
International Classification:
G06K 9/36
US Classification:
382232
Abstract:
A re-order buffer memory in a real-time application such as e. g. , an imager. Initially, input data is written into the re-order buffer using a first addressing mode, which causes the data to be stored in a line-by-line manner. Prior to receiving the last line of input data, the stored data is read-out in blocks of data that spans multiples lines in the buffer. This frees up space in the re-order buffer. Subsequently received input data is written into the re-order buffer using a second addressing mode, which stores the newly received data in vertical segments of the re-order buffer whose stored data has already been read-out. Writing/reading of the re-order buffer alternates between the first and second addressing modes. Using this technique, a single buffer may be used to input new data while existing data is being read-out.

Image Feature Identification And Motion Compensation Apparatus, Systems, And Methods

US Patent:
7542614, Jun 2, 2009
Filed:
Jun 6, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/758910
Inventors:
Amnon Silverstein - Mountain View CA, US
Sheng Lin - Sunnyvale CA, US
Dong Li - Cupertino CA, US
Assignee:
Micron Technology, Inc. - Boise ID
International Classification:
G06K 9/36
US Classification:
382232
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems, and methods disclosed herein may estimate the magnitude of relative motion between a scene and an image capture device used to capture the scene. Some embodiments may utilize discrete cosine transform and/or Sobel gradient techniques to identify one or more blocks of pixels in an originating calibration image frame. Matching blocks of pixels may be located in a successive calibration image frame. Motion vectors originating at one calibration frame and terminating at the other calibration frame may be calculated. The magnitude of relative motion derived thereby may be used to adjust image capture parameters associated with the image capture device, including exposure settings.

Appl. No.:
11/738897
Inventors:
Amnon Silverstein - Mountain View CA, US
Sheng Lin - Sunnyvale CA, US
Brian Rodricks - Los Gatos CA, US
Assignee:
Aptina Imaging Corporation - George Town
International Classification:
G06K 9/36
G06K 9/46
US Classification:
382232
Abstract:
Apparatus, systems, and methods disclosed herein may transpose image blocks from successively-captured versions of an image according to relative movement between an image capture device and the scene being captured. The transposition may provide for alignment of the successively-captured images notwithstanding the movement. The transposed image blocks from the successive images are composited in the frequency domain by integrating frequency domain coefficients from each into a composite final image. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

Appl. No.:
12/046860
Inventors:
Sheng Lin - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
Aptina Imaging Corporation - George Town
International Classification:
H04N 5/228
US Classification:

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reducing motion blur in digital images. An imager captures a reference frame and a plurality of target frames. Feature blocks preferably containing strong two-dimensional features are identified in the reference frame. Corresponding features are identified in the target frames and motion vectors representing the movement of features are calculated. Based at least in part on the motion vectors, corresponding pixels in the reference and target frames are identified and combined to form an output image. Efficient methods for identifying corresponding features in apparatuses with small buffer memories by serially processing frame strips are also disclosed.
