System And Method For Monitoring Plugging Of Basket Assemblies Of An Agricultural Implement

View page
US Patent:
20210045274, Feb 18, 2021
Filed:
Aug 15, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/541319
Inventors:
- New Holland PA, US
Scott Glovier - Pittsburgh PA, US
Raul Espinosa - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
A01B 29/06
A01B 29/04
A01B 71/08
A01B 49/02
Abstract:
A system for monitoring basket plugging for agricultural implements includes a basket assembly configured to be supported by an agricultural implement and a range sensor positioned relative to the basket assembly such that the range sensor is configured to transmit detection signals towards an interior of the basket assembly and receive return signals based on reflection of the detection signals off at least one surface. The system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the range sensor. The controller is configured to analyze data received from the range sensor as the basket assembly rotates relative to the range sensor to determine when the basket assembly is experiencing a plugged condition.

System And Method For Determining Material Accumulation Relative To Ground Engaging Tools Of An Agricultural Implement

View page
US Patent:
20210045281, Feb 18, 2021
Filed:
Aug 13, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/539495
Inventors:
- New Holland PA, US
Scott Glovier - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
A01B 76/00
A01B 15/00
A01B 5/04
A01B 63/24
G01N 27/22
Abstract:
A system for determining material accumulation relative to ground engaging tools of an agricultural implement may include a frame member, and first and second ground engaging tools coupled to the frame member. The first and second ground engaging tools are configured to engage soil within a field as the agricultural implement is moved across the field. The first and second ground engaging tools are electrically isolated from each other. The system may further include a power source configured to apply a voltage across the first and second ground engaging tools, a sensor configured to measure a capacitance across the first and second ground engaging tools, and a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor. The controller may be configured to determine a presence of material accumulation between the first and second ground engaging tools based at least in part on the measured capacitance.

Systems And Methods For Monitoring The Installation Status Of A Shank Attachment Member Of An Agricultural Implement

View page
US Patent:
20210045282, Feb 18, 2021
Filed:
Aug 14, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/540315
Inventors:
- New Holland PA, US
Scott Glovier - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
A01B 76/00
A01B 15/04
Abstract:
A system for monitoring an installation status of shank attachment members of agricultural implements may include a shank assembly. The shank assembly may have a shank and at least one mounting element configured to couple the shank to a portion of an agricultural implement. The system may further include a shank attachment member coupled to the shank and a signal transmission device provided in operative association with the shank attachment member. The system may further include an antenna provided in operative association with the shank assembly, where the antenna is configured to receive wireless signals transmitted by the signal transmission device. Additionally, the system may include a controller communicatively coupled to the antenna and configured to determine an installation status of the shank attachment member based at least in part on the wireless signals received by the antenna.

System And Method For Identifying Plugging Of Ground Engaging Tools Based On Wireless Signal Detection

View page
US Patent:
20210022284, Jan 28, 2021
Filed:
Jul 24, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/521099
Inventors:
- New Holland PA, US
Scott Glovier - Pittsburgh PA, US
International Classification:
A01B 76/00
G07C 5/08
Abstract:
A system for identifying plugging of ground engaging tools of an agricultural implement may include a ground engaging tool configured to be supported by an agricultural implement and a signal transmission device provided in operative association with the ground engaging tool, with the signal transmission device being configured to transmit wireless signals. The system may also include an antenna spaced apart from the signal transmission device and configured to receive the wireless signals transmitted from the signal transmission device, and a controller communicatively coupled to the antenna. The controller is configured to determine when the ground engaging tool is experiencing a plugged condition based at least in part on at least one of an attenuation parameter of the wireless signals received by the antenna from signal transmission device or a lack of wireless signals received by the antenna from signal transmission device.
