Assignee:
Fujitec America, Inc. - Lebanon OH
International Classification:
B66B 1314
US Classification:
187316, 49120
Abstract:
An elevator car door opening and closing apparatus is taught having a clutch assembly carried by each car door for coupling with a landing door locking and unlocking assembly whereby the car and landing doors open and close simultaneously. The clutch assembly includes a four bar mechanical expanding and collapsing parallelogram linkage which engages, unlocks, and opens the landing door. Mechanical linkage is also attached to the parallelogram linkage whereby the elevator car doors may only be forced opened a limited amount if the car is stalled between landing sites.

Poppet Valve Assembly

View page
US Patent:
6679291, Jan 20, 2004
Filed:
Oct 31, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/285197
Inventors:
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH
John T. Hill - Winnpeg, CA
Assignee:
Exxon.Valve and Coupling Company - Chestertown MD
International Classification:
F16K 3700
US Classification:
137559, 13761406, 137351, 1372346, 7386156, 141 94
Abstract:
A poppet valve assembly is provided for use on a fuel tanker truck which enables the trucks driver to determine whether fuel is flowing through the valve assembly and whether fuel is present in the valve assembly. When a threshold flow rate through the valve assembly is reached, fluid flows inside a flow channel. The flow channel has a fluid indicator and a flow indicator therein mounted in a sight glass. When fluid is flowing in the flow channel both indicators rise. When fluid is present but not flowing in the flow channel only the fluid indicator rises. The fluid and flow indicators, being different colors, may be easily seen at a distance.

Socket Assembly Having Removable Socket For Use In Overfill Protection Systems On Bottom Loading Fuel Tank Trucks

View page
US Patent:
6824423, Nov 30, 2004
Filed:
Jun 23, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/601970
Inventors:
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH
Assignee:
Dixon Valve and Coupling Company - Chestertown MD
International Classification:
H01R 1373
US Classification:
439544, 439335, 439573
Abstract:
A socket assembly is provided which is part of an overfill protection system for use on a bottom loading fuel tanker truck. The overfill protection system includes a plurality of sensors in the truck compartments which are electrically coupled via wires to the socket assembly. Due to wear, the outer socket of the socket assembly may need to be replaced. The present invention enables an operator to replace the worn socket without having to disconnect the wires from the socket assembly.

Poppet Valve Assembly With In-Line Sight Glass

View page
US Patent:
7896027, Mar 1, 2011
Filed:
Mar 11, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/046082
Inventors:
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH, US
Assignee:
Dixon Valve and Coupling Company - Chestertown MD
International Classification:
F16K 37/00
US Classification:
137559, 137219, 116276
Abstract:
A poppet valve assembly is provided for use on a fuel tanker truck which enables the truck's driver to determine whether fuel is flowing through the valve assembly and whether fuel is present in the valve assembly. The valve assembly has a two part housing, one of the parts having a sight glass secured therein. The sight glass is visible through cutouts in the housing. When the poppet valve is opened, fluid flows through a flow channel in the valve assembly. The fluid, being different colors, may be easily seen through the sight glass from a distance.

Handle Lever Locking Mechanism For Dry Disconnect Coupler

View page
US Patent:
20080128034, Jun 5, 2008
Filed:
Dec 1, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/565691
Inventors:
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH, US
Assignee:
DIXON VALVE AND COUPLING COMPANY - Chestertown MD
International Classification:
F16L 37/28
US Classification:
13761406
Abstract:
A coupler assembly wherein the coupler of the assembly has a locking mechanism mounted thereon for preventing a rotatable handle lever of the coupler from being rotated from a first locked position in which a projection of the handle lever is engaged with a stop surface of the coupler body to a second locked position in which the projection of the handle lever is engaged with a second stop surface of the coupler body.

Fluid Coupling With Locked Sleeve

View page
US Patent:
6068044, May 30, 2000
Filed:
Oct 24, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/957636
Inventors:
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH
Assignee:
Delaware Capital Formation, Inc. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
B22D 1912
US Classification:
164 98
Abstract:
A method of making a coupling assembly for use in a loading adapter of a gasoline tanker trailer. The coupling includes an aluminum coupling body and a wear resistant bronze sleeve. The wear resistant bronze sleeve provides a durable surface for receiving latches. The sleeve does not bond to the coupling body, but rather is constrained thereto by physical interference.

Poppet Valve Assembly

View page
US Patent:
50056026, Apr 9, 1991
Filed:
Jul 18, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/381578
Inventors:
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH
Assignee:
Dover Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
F16K 112
F16K 3152
F16K 3502
US Classification:
137219
Abstract:
A poppet valve assembly and method of making same are provided and such assembly comprises a housing; a flow passage in the housing with the passage having a central axis and being adapted to flow a fluid in either direction therethrough; a poppet structure for controlling flow through the passage; a support structure for supporting the poppet structure during movement thereof along the axes; an actuator contact on the poppet structure between its head and stem to enable movement of the poppet structure along the axes; and apparatus for engaging the contact to provide the movement wherein the support structure comprises a cylindrical inside surface provided on the housing and having an axial length generally of the order of several times the particular diameter, and the support structure also comprises a cylindrical outside surface on the stem which slideably engages the inside surface, with the inside and outside surfaces cooperating and defining sole means confining the poppet structure against movements transverse the axes during movement of the poppet structure along the axes.

Smart Vent Valve For Cargo Tanks Employed In Transporting Hazardous Commodities

View page
US Patent:
54049032, Apr 11, 1995
Filed:
Apr 28, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/054389
Inventors:
Todd W. Anderson - Cincinnati OH
Richard L. Fahl - Fairfield OH
Assignee:
Dover Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
F16K 1704
US Classification:
1375143
Abstract:
A "smart vent" valve is mounted on a liquid storage tank employed in the transportation of liquid. The valve prevents overpressurization of the tank due to increases in vapor pressure and prevents discharge of liquid through the valve in response to pressure surges caused by accidental overturning of the tank. A valve member is provided for a vent opening. Sealing engagement is maintained between the valve member and the vent opening during a finite period of valve member travel caused by an increase in pressure within the tank. The rate of valve member travel is limited by hydraulic system in which hydraulic fluid is forced through orifices from one chamber to another. The high levels of pressure surges do not have sufficient duration to displace the valve member a distance sufficient to move it to a position in which the vent opening is unsealed and liquid could escape therefrom.
