Database Transfers Using Constraint Free Data

View page
US Patent:
20120166492, Jun 28, 2012
Filed:
Dec 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/975367
Inventors:
Ravi BIKKULA - Sammamish WA, US
Karthik Veeraswamy - Redmond WA, US
Tewfik Zeghmi - Seattle WA, US
Rajiv Poonamalli - Redmond WA, US
Ullattil Shaji - Sammamish WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707803, 707E17127
Abstract:
A database management tool may migrate a portion of a constrained database by transferring the portion to a constraint-free database from a first constrained database, then populating a second constrained database using the constraint-free data. The constraint-free data may be transformed prior to populating to update internal database identifiers. In some cases, the transformation may also update the data to a different schema of the target database. The database management tool may also include a load balancer that may monitor the loads on a distributed database and may separate portions of the database to different database instances to more effectively load balance the larger database.

Computing Device Update Control

View page
US Patent:
20130326493, Dec 5, 2013
Filed:
May 31, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/485459
Inventors:
Rajiv N. Poonamalli - Redmond WA, US
Sharad Goel - Bellevue WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 9/44
US Classification:
717168
Abstract:
Techniques for computing device update configuration are described. In implementations, an update service is employed to manage update groups for various types and/or classifications of computing devices. An update group can specify particular update statuses for functionalities of a computing device, such as device driver updates, software updates, firmware updates, and so forth. In at least some implementations, a computing device can be assigned to an update group based on attributes of the computing device, such as an identifier of a manufacturer for the computing device, a make identifier for the computing device, a model identifier, and so forth. Update information associated with the update group can be synchronized with the computing device.

Displaying Large Datasets In A Browser Environment

View page
US Patent:
20110258575, Oct 20, 2011
Filed:
Apr 16, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/761433
Inventors:
Phil CUPP - Sammamish WA, US
Peter Richards - Issaquah WA, US
Dandan He - Redmond WA, US
Mike Treit - Bellevue WA, US
Rajiv Poonamalli - Issaquah WA, US
Assignee:
Microsoft Corporation - Redmond WA
International Classification:
G06F 3/048
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
715784, 715810, 707769, 707E17014, 709203
Abstract:
A mechanism for displaying large datasets may download an approximate range of the dataset along with a subset of the dataset to a client. The client may display the subset as well as indicators for the approximate range. When a user moves to a position within the dataset that is not downloaded, the client may send a request for a second subset of the dataset, which may be displayed on the client. The user may interact with the dataset to select different items in the dataset, for example, and those interactions may be collected while the user views different portions of the dataset. The user may process all of the interactions over the entire dataset or a portion of the dataset by committing the changes.

Driver Installation For Targeted And Non-Present Devices

US Patent:
20140359592, Dec 4, 2014
Filed:
May 31, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/907069
Inventors:
- Redmond WA, US
Faisal Ansari - Redmond WA, US
Jordan Cohen - Redmond WA, US
James Cavalaris - Redmond WA, US
Adam Lenart - Redmond WA, US
Ullattil Shaji - Redmond WA, US
Rajiv Poonamalli - Redmond WA, US
Sharad Goel - Redmond WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 9/445
US Classification:
717168
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for managing device drivers includes requesting a device driver update set for a plurality of devices connectable to a computing device. The method also includes receiving the device driver update set, installing each driver of the device driver update set on the computing device. At least one updated driver in the update set is an updated driver for a device that is disconnected from the computing device at the time of the request. The method further includes configuring the at least one updated driver for the non-connected to activate when the device is detected by the computing device.

International Classification:
G06F 9/445
US Classification:
717169
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method for maintaining update dependencies includes receiving, at a computing device, an update set from an update service. The update set may include a dependent set including a first update having a dependency on a second update in the update set. The first and second updates are separated from the update set and installed. Upon installation, an activation condition may be applied to the first and second updates.
