US Patent:
6851635, Feb 8, 2005
Filed:
Apr 9, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/119668
Inventors:
Peter D. McCowin - Enumclaw WA, US
Assignee:
William Bounds, Ltd. - Torrance CA
International Classification:
A47J042/04
US Classification:
2411691, 2412591
Abstract:
A device for grinding spices such as salt, pepper, cinnamon, etc. has a grinder rotor which has a removable keeper member which facilitates the ready removal of the rotor for cleaning or replacement. The grinder elements are made of ceramic material such as alumina silicate which eliminates the possibility of corrosion or rusting as with metal parts. The mill provides dual grinding action by utilizing separate grinding elements to provide either coarse grinding or fine grinding, as may be desired. For coarse grinding, the condiment only passes through the coarse grinding element while for fine grinding, the condiment first passes through the coarse grinding element and then passes through the fine grinding element.

Method And Apparatus For Contouring Composite Pre-Preg Articles

View page
US Patent:
8118959, Feb 21, 2012
Filed:
Jun 27, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/769082
Inventors:
Paul E. Nelson - University Place WA, US
Peter D. McCowin - Enumclaw WA, US
Worm Lund - Bellevue WA, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B32B 37/10
US Classification:
156220, 156285, 264544, 264552, 264553, 264571
Abstract:
A forming tool and method for its use with flat pre-preg composite laminate assemblies which incorporates a mandrel segmented into multiple forming blocks, the forming blocks sized to receive a draped composite laminate assembly with all portions of the composite laminate assembly spaced from a shaping surface on each block. A spline plate engages the shaping surface of the forming blocks to provide a neutral axis for maintaining the entire composite laminate assembly in tension during forming. In the exemplary embodiments, the draped composite laminate assembly is formed to the forming blocks from the flat composite laminate assembly and maintained in contact with the forming blocks using a vacuum bag. The mandrel forming blocks are then displaced to a desired curvature on the spline plate.

Mechanism And Method For Predetermined Angular Cutting Of A Plurality Of Ply Strips

View page
US Patent:
8327743, Dec 11, 2012
Filed:
May 17, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/750154
Inventors:
Peter D. McCowin - Enumclaw WA, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
B26D 1/00
US Classification:
83 34, 83350, 833563, 833562
Abstract:
Apparatus for cutting plural aligned ply strips includes plural knife blades disposed in a spaced manner such that each knife blade is aligned with and in closely spaced relation to an associated ply strip. The knife blades are pivotally mounted in a common housing and are coupled to a single rotational drive for allowing each knife blade to assume the same predetermined cutting angle relative to its associated ply strip, where the cutting angle may be varied between 45. The plural knife blades are coupled to a rotational drive by means of plural circular drive gears and are connected to a linear drive for displacing the knife blades into contact with the ply strips for cutting the strips at the predetermined angle. The severed edges of the aligned ply strips are formed in mutual linear alignment and do not include projecting triangular patterns, or crenelations.
