Apr 17, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/736181
Inventors:
Robert Edward Higley - Durham NC, US
Mark Terrence McClear - Cary NC, US
Assignee:
Cree, Inc. - Durham NC
International Classification:
F21V 19/04
US Classification:
362 20, 362276, 362295, 362800
Abstract:
An LED based emergency lighting system is described. Unlike a typical approach in which one lighting system provides normal ambient lighting and a second different system provides auxiliary emergency lighting, a common integrated system can be satisfactorily employed.

May 2, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/743324
Inventors:
Mark McClear - Cary NC, US
Bernd P. Keller - Santa Barbara CA, US
George R. Brandes - Raleigh NC, US
Ronan P. LeToquin - Durham NC, US
Assignee:
Cree, Inc. - Durham NC
International Classification:
H01L 33/00
H01J 1/62
US Classification:
313501, 313502
Abstract:
A multi-chip lighting emitting device (LED) lamp for providing white light includes a submount including first and second die mounting regions thereon. A first LED chip is mounted on the first die mounting region, and a second LED chip is mounted on the second die mounting region. The LED lamp is configured to emit light having a spectral distribution including at least four different color peaks to provide the white light. For example, a first conversion material may at least partially cover the first LED chip, and may be configured to absorb at least some of the light of the first color and re-emit light of a third color. In addition, a second conversion material may at least partially cover the first and/or second LED chips, and may be configured to absorb at least some of the light of the first and/or second colors and re-emit light of a fourth color. Related light fixtures and methods are also discussed.

US Patent:
8339029, Dec 25, 2012
Filed:
Apr 8, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/756725
Inventors:
Wooh Jae Kim - Cary NC, US
Mark McClear - Cary NC, US
Robert E. Higley - Cary NC, US
Joshua Markle - Raleigh NC, US
Assignee:
Cree, Inc. - Durham NC
International Classification:
H01J 1/62
F21V 17/02
US Classification:
313498, 362231
Abstract:
A light emitting device package assembly includes a light emitting device package body, and first, second and third white light emitting devices on the package body, each of the first, second and third white light emitting devices emits light when energized having a chromaticity that falls within a respective one of first, second and third non-overlapping chromaticity regions in a two dimensional chromaticity space. The first, second and third chromaticity regions are spaced apart in the two dimensional chromaticity space by respective regions having at least the size of a seven step MacAdam ellipse. Related solid state luminaires and methods are also disclosed.
