Method And Apparatus For Remote Use Of Personal Computer

View page
US Patent:
7102691, Sep 5, 2006
Filed:
Aug 8, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/924858
Inventors:
Lee R. Dischert - Burlington NJ, US
David Noa - Doylestown PA, US
Assignee:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. - Osaka
International Classification:
H04N 7/16
US Classification:
348552
Abstract:
A Personal Computer (PC) in a second location, provides video signals to a television monitor located in a first location. A stereo amplifies audio from the PC and provides the signal to loudspeakers in the first location. A keyboard, mouse, and controller in the first location, use infrared radiation to transmit commands. An IR receiver, in the first location, detects the commands and provides them to the PC. A communication port is used to receive the initial commands. After the initial remote commands negotiate control the input select switch interchanges the input devices of the second location with input devices of the first location. The interchange gives control of the PC to the first location keyboard, mouse and controller. A video switch/matrix in the second location is also controlled from the first location so that video is provided from the PC to the TV monitor in the first location.

Method And Apparatus For Positive Control Of Devices With Toggle Power Control

View page
US Patent:
7138928, Nov 21, 2006
Filed:
Feb 24, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/373366
Inventors:
Lee R. Dischert - Burlington NJ, US
Assignee:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. - Osaka
International Classification:
G08C 19/00
US Classification:
34082572, 713 1, 51103
Abstract:
An exemplary method of providing positive power control of an electrical device which uses a toggle power command signal, and apparatus perform the method. This exemplary method uses an apparatus that includes a remote control unit and a signal translator. A positive power command signal is produced by and transmitted from the remote control unit. This positive power command signal is received by the signal translator. A present power condition of the electrical device is determined by the signal translator and compared to the positive power command signal. The toggle power command signal is then produced by and transmitted from the signal translator, if the positive power command signal and the present power condition of the electrical device do not match.

Imager Registration Error And Chromatic Aberration Measurement System For A Video Camera

View page
US Patent:
20010030697, Oct 18, 2001
Filed:
Mar 5, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/800021
Inventors:
Lee Dischert - Burlington NJ, US
Robert Topper - Hatboro PA, US
Thomas Leacock - Medford NJ, US
International Classification:
H04N009/09
US Classification:
348/263000, 348/265000
Abstract:
A system for detecting and measuring registration errors and chromatic aberration in color images derived from a color video camera includes an edge locator which finds edges in respective zones of the color images and stores sets of samples representing picture elements of each of at least two component color signals. A microprocessor processes the stored sample sets to identify a coarse displacement between corresponding samples of the two component color signals. The microprocessor then determines a fine displacement between the two color signals. The coarse displacement may be determined by performing a cross correlation on the two sample sets or by calculating respective sums of absolute difference between the two sample sets for different displacements between corresponding samples of the two samples sets. The fine displacement may be determined by interpolating samples interstitial to the samples of the first sample set surrounding the sample which is closest to the identified edge and interpolated samples interstitial to the samples of the second samples set which are displaced from the first set of samples by the coarse displacement and then performing a cross correlation on the resulting original and interstitial samples. The fine displacement may also be determined by fitting a parabolic curve to either the cross correlation values of the original sample values or to the calculated sum of absolute difference values for the two sample sets. The fine displacement, is added to or subtracted from the coarse displacement to obtain a measure of the registration error and/or chromatic aberration in the images to sub-pixel resolution.

Method, Apparatus , And System For Selectively Combining Video Signals

View page
US Patent:
20040189676, Sep 30, 2004
Filed:
Mar 24, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/395664
Inventors:
Lee Dischert - Burlington NJ, US
International Classification:
G09G005/00
US Classification:
345/639000, 701/001000, 345/611000
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and system for combining a first signal and a second signal is disclosed, e.g., superimposing graphic signals on video signals. A first signal containing an object and an object indicator, e.g., a chroma key background color or a separate signal indicating presence or absence of an object, is used to determine weighting values for pixels at the edges of the object. The weighting values are then used to blend the first signal and a second signal at the edges of the object to minimize sharp transitions, thereby minimizing aliasing.

System And Method For Reducing Noise During Analog To Digital Conversion

View page
US Patent:
56593139, Aug 19, 1997
Filed:
Mar 31, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/414352
Inventors:
Lee Robert Dischert - Medford NJ
Robert Joseph Topper - Hatboro PA
Assignee:
Panasonic Technologies, Inc. - Princeton NJ
International Classification:
H03M 100
US Classification:
341132
Abstract:
A system and method for reducing signal-to-noise ratio in a multi-component analog signal during analog to digital conversion. The multi-component analog signal is made up of a plurality of separate analog signals, with each of the separate analog signals having separate amplitude levels. A reference gain control signal, corresponding to the largest amplitude component of the multi-component signal, is first determined. Next, the reference gain control signal is used to generate a gain control signal. The gain control signal is then used to adjust each component of the multi-component signal by a gain value. Finally, the gain adjusted signals are converted to corresponding digital signals.
