Appl. No.:
9/057272
Inventors:
Jeffrey K. Aldred - Boulder CO
Brian D. Hunter - Nederland CO
Kraig J. Koski - Longmont CO
Assignee:
American Standard, Inc. - Piscataway NJ
International Classification:
B01D 2931

Biocide Filter

View page
US Patent:
55804470, Dec 3, 1996
Filed:
Aug 5, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/286639
Inventors:
Sanford Platter - Boulder CO
Jeffrey K. Aldred - Boulder CO
Kraig J. Koski - Lafayette CO
Louis H. Junker - Boulder CO
Eric M. Reynolds - Boulder CO
Assignee:
Sweetwater, Inc. - Longmont CO
International Classification:
B01D 3526
C02F 150
C02F 176
US Classification:
210206
Abstract:
An efficient, low pressure drop biocide cartridge is provided for destroying viral and bacterial pathogens in water from untreated water sources along a lengthened flow pathway including a critical plenum for controlling the speed of water throughput. In a first pathway, water is percolated through a turbulatable bed of biocidally-effective material. In flow pathway, channeling and pressure drop are reduced by radial flow across a columnar bed presenting a large surface area at an outer diameter. The cartridge may be connected with a lightweight hand-held pump. A sealing strap is provided for wet storage of any biocide cartridge.

Flow Totalization, Reset, And Restriction Mechanism For Use In Indicating The End Of A Treatment Cartridge Useful Life

View page
US Patent:
59977345, Dec 7, 1999
Filed:
Jan 16, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/008616
Inventors:
Kraig J. Koski - Longmont CO
Brian D. Hunter - Boulder CO
Jeffrey K. Aldred - Boulder CO
Assignee:
American Standard, Inc. - Piscataway NJ
International Classification:
B01D 1712
B01D 35143
US Classification:
210 87
Abstract:
A faucet mounted water filtration device (100) includes an end of life indicator assembly (130) having a flow totalization mechanism (600), a reset mechanism (602) and a flow restriction mechanism (604) coaxially aligned with an indicator assembly (130). A torsion spring (634) and compression spring (644) cooperate for automatic disengagement and resetting of the flow totalization mechanism and the flow restriction mechanism. A planetary gear reduction system 606 provides a 3,000,000:1 gear reduction in the flow totalization mechanism.

Water Filtration Device With A Water Fountain Outlet And A Faucet Outlet With Flow Viewing Apparatus

View page
US Patent:
59936487, Nov 30, 1999
Filed:
Mar 17, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/042905
Inventors:
Brian D. Hunter - Nederland CO
Jeffrey K. Aldred - Boulder CO
Kraig J. Koski - Longmont CO
Ralph Burns - Boulder CO
Assignee:
American Standard, Inc. - Piscataway NJ
International Classification:
B01D 1712
B01D 3502
B67D 537
US Classification:
210 94
Abstract:
A faucet-mounted water filtration device includes a gate valve that is used to select between discharge options. The gate valve contains a thumb rest which is configured to allow manual valve actuation while supportedly engaging a user's thumb. First discharge option includes a conventional bottom discharge into a sink. A second discharge option exists as a water fountain that is formed as a compact, integral feature of the water filtration device. A flow indicator permits a user to check whether the filtration cartridge is working properly.
