Sheet Product Dispenser

View page
US Patent:
7896285, Mar 1, 2011
Filed:
Feb 27, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/038216
Inventors:
Brent J. Burns - Sterling Heights MI, US
Daniel J. Geddes - Appleton WI, US
John R. Moody - Winlock WA, US
Assignee:
Georgia-Pacific Consumer Products LP - Atlanta GA
International Classification:
B65H 16/10
US Classification:
2425642
Abstract:
A dispenser for dispensing sheet product from a supply to a user is disclosed. The dispenser includes a feed device for dispensing a length of sheet product, an energy storage device in operable communication with the feed device, and a user interface in operable communication with the energy storage device. The user interface is biased in a first direction to a rest position by the energy storage device and is responsive to energy from the user to move in a second direction opposite the first direction and transfer energy to the energy storage device. The energy storage device is in operable connection with the feed device and applies the transferred energy to generate motion of the user interface in the first direction toward the rest position to actuate the feed device and dispense the sheet product.

Electromagnetic Interlock

View page
US Patent:
50761145, Dec 31, 1991
Filed:
May 14, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/523080
Inventors:
John W. Moody - Clarkston MI
Assignee:
Pontiac Coil Inc. - Pontiac Plans MI
International Classification:
F16C 110
H01F 720
US Classification:
745015R
Abstract:
A holding device for immobilizing a cable includes a generally cylindrical electromagnet with a central passageway extending therethrough and a holding assembly comprised of a ferromagnetic body joined to a tubular stem. The ferromagnetic body and stem have a passageway therethrough and are disposed so that the stem passes through the central passageway of the electromagnet. A cable which passes through the passageway of the stem and affixed thereto is immobilized when the electromagnet is activated.

Electronic Park Lock

View page
US Patent:
54892465, Feb 6, 1996
Filed:
Aug 29, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/297387
Inventors:
John W. Moody - Clarkston MI
C. Robert Brandt - Brighton MI
Lawrence A. Wiltfang - Clarkston MI
Steve Hojnacki - Clarkston MI
Assignee:
Pontiac Coil, Inc. - Waterford MI
International Classification:
B60K 4128
US Classification:
477 96
Abstract:
An electronic transmission shifter interlock system in which an electronic module is mounted directly on a shift lever for pivotal movement therewith. The module contains two electromagnetic devices which operate on the spring-biased, shift lever core rod to control the PARK lock release so as to inhibit and/or enable operation of the shift lever according to the status of the ignition lock and the position of the brake pedal. The interlock module is electrically coupled with the ignition lock to prevent the ignition key from being removed while the shift lever is other than the PARK position.

Bobbin Concentrically Supporting Multiple Electrical Coils

View page
US Patent:
56730136, Sep 30, 1997
Filed:
Oct 6, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/539967
Inventors:
John W. Moody - Clarkston MI
Charles Withey - Waterford MI
Assignee:
Pontiac Coil, Inc. - Waterford MI
International Classification:
H01F 1510
H01F 2730
US Classification:
336192
Abstract:
A bobbin assembly provides means for mounting two coils in concentric relationship with one another for use in electrical devices such as solenoids, relays, and transformers. The bobbin assembly comprises inner and outer hollow, cylindrical spools each having a coil of wire wound thereon prior to being assembled with one another by moving the inner spool into the hollow interior of the outer spool. Alignment members extending axially from the inner and outer spools engage one another to maintain the spools in their concentric relationship and also provide wire guide means routing the ends of the coil wires away from the spools and terminating them in a manner facilitating connection of the coils to associated electric circuits.

Interlock Device Having Reduced Preload Binding

View page
US Patent:
51762315, Jan 5, 1993
Filed:
Sep 16, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/760708
Inventors:
John W. Moody - Clarkston MI
Robert Brandt - Brighton MI
Lawrence A. Wiltfang - Clarkston MI
Assignee:
Pontiac Coil, Inc. - Waterford MI
International Classification:
B60K 2000
B60K 2300
US Classification:
192 4A
Abstract:
In an electromagnetic interlock of the type in which a pin engages a notched or perforated member, preload releasability is provided by configuring the contacting surfaces of the pin and notch to provide an angle of contact which is always positive. The pin and/or the notch each includes a nonvertical contact surface. In one version of the device, the notch includes an S-shaped contact surface.

Shifter Interlock For An Automatic Transmission

View page
US Patent:
59022094, May 11, 1999
Filed:
Jul 15, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/893101
Inventors:
John W. Moody - Clarkston MI
Assignee:
Pontiac Coil, Inc. - Clarkston MI
International Classification:
F16H59/04
US Classification:
477 99
Abstract:
An automotive shifter interlock in which a slidable shift lever release member is mechanically locked in a shift-release-inhibit position by the combination of an electromagnet bolt and an ignition switch bolt. The ignition switch bolt mechanically locks the electromagnet bolt in a position locking the shift lever release member even though no power is supplied to the electromagnet. After the ignition switch is closed and the ignition switch bolt withdrawn, the electromagnet continues to provide an electromagnetic lock until the brake pedal is depressed.

Transmission Shift Interlock

View page
US Patent:
57291870, Mar 17, 1998
Filed:
Dec 1, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/565687
Inventors:
John W. Moody - Clarkston MI
Steve R. Hojnacki - Clarkston MI
Assignee:
Pontiac Coil, Inc. - Waterford MI
International Classification:
H01F 708
US Classification:
335228
Abstract:
A holding device and a transmission shift interlock mechanism employing the holding device. The holding device is intended to immobilize a cable and includes a generally cylindrical electromagnet with a central passageway extending therethrough and a holding assembly comprised of a ferromagnetic body joined to a tubular non-magnetic stem. The ferromagnetic body and stem have a passageway therethrough and the stem passes through the central passageway of the electromagnet. The cable passes slidably through the stem and a stop collar is secured to the cable immediately forwardly of the stem for abutting coaction with the forward end of the stem. In the transmission shift interlock mechanism, the cable extends from an ignition switch interlock member to a park/lock member pivotally mounted beneath the steering column of the vehicle and acting in the locked position thereof to preclude movement of the shift lever detent from the park detent position to a drive or reverse detent position of the vehicle automatic transmission. The holding device is piggy-backed on the cable proximate the park/lock lever and includes a mounting bracket securing the holding device proximate the park/lock member.
