Methods And Systems Allowing Access To A Messaging Platform Through A Visited Messaging Platform

View page
US Patent:
6628761, Sep 30, 2003
Filed:
Dec 30, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/476681
Inventors:
Maria Adamczyk - Alpharetta GA
James Carlton Bedingfield - Lilburn GA
Assignee:
BellSouth Intellectual Property Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04M 164
US Classification:
379 8819, 379 8821, 379 8822
Abstract:
Methods and systems to provide a particular subscriber of a messaging system with access to a selected messaging platform (SMP) by making a call to a pilot number from a line number other than a line number of the subscriber. The call is routed to the SSP serving the line number from which the call originated. Based on the use of the pilot number, the SSP receives instructions from an intelligent network element (INE) to route the call to a messaging platform serving the line number from which the call originated. If the messaging platform receives a backout indicator in the call, then the messaging platform provides a backout notice to the SSP. The SSP engages in an exchange with the INE so as to result in the SSP obtaining a selected number from the particular subscriber and providing the selected number to the INE. The selected number is used by the INE to obtain an address for the SMP. The INE then instructs the SSP to route the call to the address for the SMP.

Method And System For Providing Calling Number Restoral

View page
US Patent:
6633633, Oct 14, 2003
Filed:
Dec 22, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/468888
Inventors:
James C. Bedingfield - Lilburn GA
Assignee:
BellSouth Intellectuel Property Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04M 342
US Classification:
37920111, 37920702
Abstract:
A system and method for restoring the original calling number in a call routed through an out-of-network enhanced service provider to a forwarding destination. The system comprises a service control point, a service switching point in communication with the service control point, and an enhanced service provider service node in communication with the service switching point, wherein the service node is located outside of a network while the remaining components reside within the network, and wherein the service switching point is provisioned with two triggers: an incoming trigger for calls to the service node and an outgoing trigger for calls from the service node. According to the method, the service control point, in response to the incoming trigger, removes and stores the private call information of a call exiting the network and, in response to the outgoing trigger, restores that private call information to the call once the call re-enters the network.

Method And System For Message Routing

View page
US Patent:
6724863, Apr 20, 2004
Filed:
Dec 22, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/742377
Inventors:
James C. Bedingfield - Lilburn GA
Assignee:
BellSouth Intellectual Property Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04M 164
US Classification:
379 8812, 379 8811, 379 8825, 379 8822, 37922001, 455413
Abstract:
A method and system for forwarding information, such as a message waiting indicator (MWI) message, to a telephone number corresponding to a foreign network (e. g. , a wireless network) and a shared NPA/NXX. The invention evaluates individual telephone numbers of shared NPA/NXXs to determine to what networks to send information. In a representative embodiment, the invention uses a pseudo NPA to deliver an MWI message from a messaging service provider to a wireless (i. e. , foreign network) telephone number of a shared NPA/NXX. A voicemail platform delivers to a signal transfer point an MWI message that references a pseudo NPA. The signal transfer point translates the pseudo NPA to a point code corresponding to the foreign network, and routes the MWI message to the point code. A converter of the foreign network translates the pseudo NPA back to the associated real NPA.

Method And Apparatus For Allowing Selective Disposition Of An Incoming Telephone Call During An Internet Session

View page
US Patent:
6757274, Jun 29, 2004
Filed:
Dec 16, 1997
Appl. No.:
08/991079
Inventors:
James Carl Bedingfield - Lilburn GA
Robert A. Koch - Norcross GA
Alexander David Raji - Atlanta GA
Assignee:
BellSouth Intellectual Property Corporation
International Classification:
H04L 1266
US Classification:
370352
Abstract:
A method for notifying an internet browser user of an incoming telephone call is performed by intemet call notification software residing on the users computer and software residing within a telephone network. A user selects the location of the internet notification software as a home page for the browser. The home page prompts the user for activation of internet call notification. If the user requests internet call notification, the software transmits an internet protocol address to the telephone network. The network then stores the internet protocol address for the user. When a call is made to the user, the telephone network accesses a database to retrieve the stored internet protocol address. The network then transmits a message to the users software to notify the user of the incoming call. The software displays a window containing information about the telephone call.

Methods And Systems To Make Spoken Name Data Available

View page
US Patent:
6810113, Oct 26, 2004
Filed:
Dec 30, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/476055
Inventors:
James Carlton Bedingfield - Lilburn GA
Navneet Patel - Marietta GA
Assignee:
BellSouth Intellectual Property Corporation - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H04M 164
US Classification:
379 8818, 379 8817
Abstract:
Methods and systems allow use of a TCP/IP or other network for a message senders messaging platform (MP ) to engage in a query/response exchange using a standardized protocol such as LDAP with a directory or an other messaging platform to obtain spoken name data associated with a recipient of a message from the sender. If available, the directory responds to the MP with the spoken name data. If unavailable at the directory, the directory may retrieve the spoken name data from an other messaging platform, or may provide MP with profile data indicating the location of the spoken name data. If MP does not receive the spoken name data from the directory, then MP may use the profile data to obtain the spoken name data from the location indicated. Once MP receives the spoken name data, MP makes a presentation to the sender.
