View page
US Patent:
6418263, Jul 9, 2002
Filed:
Jan 28, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/238609
Inventors:
Hovhannes Habib Mardirossian - Morris Plains NJ
Wali Shah - Newark NJ
Assignee:
Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G02B 600
US Classification:
385135
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for storing a fiber optic assembly are disclosed. In one embodiment, a fiber optic assembly storage apparatus that includes a storage tray is disclosed. The storage tray has a first side and a second side where the first side defines a plurality of storage channels. The first side defines an optical component storage channel, a plurality of optical component storage cells, an optical component fiber storage channel, and a coupling fiber storage channel. The optical component fiber storage channel is disposed at a first end of the optical component storage channel and the coupling fiber storage channel interconnects the optical component storage channel and the plurality of optical component storage cells. A tray cover may also be provided that is positioned on the first side of the storage tray.

US Patent:
40108732, Mar 8, 1977
Filed:
Aug 18, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/605301
Inventors:
Hovhannes H. Mardirossian - Elmhurst NY
International Classification:
B65D 3528
US Classification:
222101
Abstract:
A resilient frame for accommodating a tube of amorphous material has a cover part in operative proximity with a tube of amorphous material accommodated therein. A tube compressing device in the frame is guided by the frame for compressing the tube from the end thereof to the area of the neck thereof. The tube compressing device moves the cover part in a manner whereby the cover part covers the opening of the neck of the tube when the tube compressing device is a maximum distance from the neck of the tube and the cover part frees the opening of the neck of the tube for the transfer of amorphous material when the tube compressing device is moved toward the neck of the tube.

Method And Apparatus For Separating Optical Fibers

View page
US Patent:
6263142, Jul 17, 2001
Filed:
Oct 7, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/167579
Inventors:
Hovhannes Habib Mardirossian - Morris Plains NJ
Robert C. Brockman - Jackson NJ
Assignee:
Tyco Submarine Systems, Ltd. - Eatontown NJ
International Classification:
G02B 602
US Classification:
385135
Abstract:
An apparatus and method are introduced for preventing a first optical fiber and a second optical fiber wound on the same spool from interfering from one another. The apparatus comprises an annulus having an inner edge, an outer edge, and an annular width consisting of the distance, measured radially, between the inner and outer edges. The inner edge of the annulus is sized to fit snugly in a coaxial fashion around the spool, and the annular width should be at least large enough to separate the first and second optical coil.

Method And Apparatus For Providing A Flexible Splint Splice

US Patent:
61526118, Nov 28, 2000
Filed:
Aug 7, 1998
Appl. No.:
9/131382
Inventors:
Hovhannes Habib Mardirossian - Morris Plains NJ
Assignee:
Tyco Submarine Systems Ltd. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
G02B 6255
US Classification:
385 99
Abstract:
A system and method are introduced to provide a flexible splint for an optical-fiber splice. After splicing the fiber, it is placed within a flexible inner layer. Over the flexible inner layer is placed a flexible outer layer, thereby creating an inner- and outer-layer splint.

Method And Apparatus For Coupling A Fiber Optic Connector

View page
US Patent:
62959018, Oct 2, 2001
Filed:
Jul 26, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/358655
Inventors:
Hovhannes Habib Mardirossian - Morris Plains NJ
Assignee:
TyCom (US) Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
B25B 2314
US Classification:
81467
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for coupling a fiber optic connector is disclosed. In one embodiment for a fiber optic connector wrench in accordance with the present invention, the fiber optic connector wrench includes an engagement portion and a handle member having a first portion with a first longitudinal axis and a second portion with a second longitudinal axis. The engagement portion is rigidly connected to the first portion. A collapsible joint joins the first portion to the second portion where the first longitudinal axis is aligned with the second longitudinal axis when a torque less than a predetermined value is applied to the collapsible joint and where the first longitudinal axis is offset from the second longitudinal axis when a torque greater than or equal to the predetermined value is applied to the collapsible joint.
