Address Resolution Protocol To Map Internet Protocol Addresses To A Node Transport Identifier

View page
US Patent:
20020112077, Aug 15, 2002
Filed:
Feb 15, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/784389
Inventors:
Ghassan Semaan - Fremont CA, US
Hossein Sahabi - Fremont CA, US
International Classification:
G06F015/173
G06F015/16
US Classification:
709/245000, 709/238000
Abstract:
A system and method of automatically mapping network addresses of a first protocol for a plurality of network elements in a first network to network addresses of a second protocol is described. According to embodiments of the present invention a table is defined and maintained in each network element of the plurality of network elements. An identifier within the first protocol for each network element of the plurality of network elements is assigned and stored in the table. An address corresponding to the second protocol for each network element of the plurality of network elements is also assigned and stored in the table. The first protocol identifier is associated with the address corresponding to the second protocol within the table for each network element of the plurality of network elements. An update timer is further associated with each protocol identifier for each network element in the first network. The first network protocol identifier is propagated from each network element at periodic intervals. The update timer associated with each network element is reset upon propagation of a first network protocol identifier from that network element. If the update timer for that network element reaches a pre-determined count value, the network element is removed from the table.

Traffic Engineering For Border Gateway Protocol

US Patent:
20200162365, May 21, 2020
Filed:
Nov 19, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/194779
Inventors:
- Hanover MD, US
Hossein Sahabi - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
H04L 12/729
H04L 12/751
H04L 12/715
H04L 12/723
H04L 12/707
H04L 12/947
H04L 12/26
Abstract:
Systems and methods include, at a first Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) speaker node which interconnects two autonomous systems, receiving an advertisement containing available bandwidth on one or more links between the two autonomous systems from a second BGP speaker node; and, for a BGP best path calculation between the two autonomous systems at the first BGP speaker node, selecting a link of the one or more links based on the available bandwidth on the link from the advertisement. At the first BGP speaker node, the systems and methods can further include determining bandwidth on the one or more links; and transmitting an updated advertisement based on the determined bandwidth. The bandwidth can be determined based on a configurable sampling interval. The transmitted update can be provided if the determined bandwidth has changed from a previous value by more than a configurable threshold.

Method And System For Support Of Spanning Tree Peering And Tunneling In A Flood Domain

View page
US Patent:
20140112204, Apr 24, 2014
Filed:
Oct 19, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/656176
Inventors:
- Kanagawa, JP
Wenao Hu - San Jose CA, US
Hossein Sahabi - Pleasanton CA, US
Assignee:
Fujitsu Limited - Kanagawa
International Classification:
H04L 12/44
US Classification:
370256
Abstract:
A network element includes a first customer edge port (CEP) coupled to a customer network, a first and a second flood domain. The first and second flood domain each include one or more provider network ports associated with a provider network. The first CEP is configured to peer spanning tree protocol (STP) data units across a network, and receive and transmit a data unit to a first STP processing instance associated with the first CEP. The first STP processing instance is configured to determine whether the data unit is associated with the first or second flood domain, and forward the data unit to the determined flood domain. The network element includes a second CEP coupled to the customer network and the first flood domain. The second CEP is configured to tunnel STP data units across the provider network, receive and forward a second data unit to the first flood domain.
