View page
US Patent:
20070251197, Nov 1, 2007
Filed:
Oct 17, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/252362
Inventors:
William Roberts - Spartanburg SC, US
Henry Stockley - Spartanburg SC, US
John Koke - Duncan SC, US
International Classification:
B65B 61/26
B65B 11/52
US Classification:
053509000, 053131400, 053136100, 053396000
Abstract:
The invention is a method and system of repackaging a packaged item having a representation of a unique identification code attached to the original package. The packaged item having a first unique identification code may be removed from its original packaging and be repackaged in a replacement package and information associated with the first unique identification code may be associated with a second unique identification code. A representation of the second unique identification code may be attached to the replacement package so that the information associated with the item may be recalled at a desired time. The invention may help reduce or limit the possibility of losing information that is unique to the repackaged item. The information associated with the item may also be used to determine an appropriate type of replacement package for the item so that the overall efficiency of repackaging an item may be improved.

Abstract:
The presently disclosed subject matter is directed to a compartmented marinade package comprising a food product, such as a cut of meat, loaded into a first compartment and a frozen food additive loaded into a second compartment. The package includes a rupturable seal separating the two compartments to allow the mixing and marinating of the food product and food additive when desired by a user. The user squeezes the desired storage chamber and the pressure applied thereto causes the rupturable seal to break, allowing intermixing between the compartments.

Peelable Barrier Film For Vacuum Skin Packages And The Like

View page
US Patent:
48866903, Dec 12, 1989
Filed:
Dec 21, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/136680
Inventors:
Kent A. Davis - Travelers Rest SC
Solomon Bekele - Taylors SC
Henry W. Stockley - Spartanburg SC
Assignee:
W. R. Grace & Co. - Duncan SC
International Classification:
B32B 108
US Classification:
428 366
Abstract:
A vacuum skin package for packaging fresh red meat and like articles is produced by using a composite, multilayer, oxygen barrier, vacuum skin packaging forming film in which the barrier layer can be manually separated from the non-barrier, oxygen permeable layer. After the vaccum skin package is formed to enclose a fresh red meat product in a vacuum the meat will have a purplish color. Then, after storage, the barrier layer can be removed so that the remaining permeable film can admit oxygen to impart the desirable red bloom to the fresh meat. Of importance is the "tear through" feature of the permeable inner layer which has a greater bond strength to the tray than internal strength or layer-to-layer bond strength so that a tab may be torn loose at a score line and then the barrier layer may be readily delaminated and peeled from the permeable layer.

US Patent:
56321341, May 27, 1997
Filed:
Sep 8, 1995

US Patent:
55454194, Aug 13, 1996
Filed:
Jul 21, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/278367
Inventors:
Sean A. Brady - Greer SC
Henry W. Stockley - Spartanburg SC

Sealed Internal Package Label

View page
US Patent:
53307771, Jul 19, 1994
Filed:
Jul 3, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/545686
Inventors:
James Mize - Simpsonville SC
Kent A. Davis - Travelers Rest SC
Henry W. Stockley - Spartanburg SC
Assignee:
W. R. Grace & Co.-Conn. - Duncan SC
International Classification:
B65B 1100
US Classification:
426383
Abstract:
A method for providing sealed internal labels for vacuum skin packages and the like is disclosed. Labels with a heat sealable printed surface are placed on the trayed product prior to entering a vacuum skin packaging chamber. In the chamber the covering film is heated to its sealing temperature before it is applied by differential air pressure to the product and tray. The label seals to the interior surface of the covering film and is protected from being defaced during handling. Furthermore moisture and juices from the product will not discolor the label as it is sealed on its printed surface to the covering film. The package produced is intended for the display case in a retail supermarket.
