Reduction Of Viscosity Of Aqueous Fluids

View page
US Patent:
46473858, Mar 3, 1987
Filed:
Nov 12, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/796965
Inventors:
Martin M. Williams - Louisville KY
Martha A. Phelps - Louisville KY
George M. Zody - Louisville KY
Assignee:
Hi-Tek Polymers, Inc. - Louisville KY
International Classification:
E21B 4326
C09K 702
US Classification:
252 8551
Abstract:
The viscosity of thickened aqueous solutions of water-soluble polymers is reduced by the addition of alkali metal and alkaline earth metal salts of hypochlorous acid and tertiary amines. The combination of the salt and the tertiary amine is much more efficient in speed of reduction in viscosity and in the completeness of the degradation of the polymer than the use of the metal salt alone. The process of this invention is particularly useful in fracturing of oil wells.

Hydrophobically Modified Carboxyalkyl Hydroxyalkyl Ethers Of Polygalactomannans

C07H 300
US Classification:
536114
Abstract:
Alkyl and hydroxyalkyl ethers of polygalactomannans are further modified with long chain haloalkanoic acids. The resulting derivatized polygalactomannans are useful as thickening agents in aqueous systems, particularly in combination with surfactants at acidic pH.

Hydrophobically Modified Non-Ionic Polygalactomannan Ethers

Assignee:
Hi-Tek Polymers, Inc. - Louisville KY
International Classification:
C08B 3700
US Classification:
536114
Abstract:
Alkyl ethers of polygalactomannans wherein the alkyl groups contain 1 to 4 carbon atoms are further modified with long chain aliphatic epoxides wherein the long chains contain 8 to about 28 carbon atoms. The resulting derivatized polygalactomannans are particularly useful as thickening agents for aqueous systems.
