US Patent:
7757987, Jul 20, 2010
Filed:
Dec 13, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/955764
Inventors:
Gary Lee Kolbet - High Point NC, US
Mel Todd Carswell - Lexington NC, US
William Len Beusse - Trinity NC, US
Henry Marshall Kennedy - High Point NC, US
Assignee:
Vecoplan, LLC - Archdale NC
International Classification:
B02C 21/02
US Classification:
2411012, 241101741
Abstract:
A mobile shredder comprises a truck having an enclosure providing a storage volume for storage of shredded material, and a rotary shredder mounted in the enclosure outside the storage volume. A prime mover is disposed in an engine/transmission compartment of the truck. An electric motor is disposed outside the engine/transmission compartment and has an output shaft mechanically coupled to an input shaft of the rotary shredder. The rotary shredder is driven solely by the electric motor. An AC generator disposed outside the engine/transmission compartment is driven by the prime mover to generate the electrical power that powers the electric motor. The AC generator is configured to have a rated power output of about 90 to 180 kVA. The rotary shredder is configured to have a shredding capacity of 3000 to 6000 pounds per hour of typical mixed office waste when continuously operated at a nominal rated speed.

Shredder With Multi-Point Cutters

View page
US Patent:
20120325950, Dec 27, 2012
Filed:
Jun 24, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/168265
Inventors:
Roswell Davis - Sophia NC, US
Stefan Kaiser - Greensboro NC, US
Gary Kolbet - High Point NC, US
International Classification:
B02C 18/28
B02C 18/18
B02C 18/06
US Classification:
241243, 241277, 241291
Abstract:
A shredder includes a rotor supporting a plurality of multi-point cutters that mesh with a counter-knife having generally V-shaped grooves. Each cutter has at least one corner defined by an intersection between two contiguous side faces of the body of the cutter. The corner defines a plurality of cutting points spaced apart along a first direction. The cutters are mounted on the outer peripheral surface of the rotor such that the first direction of each cutter is substantially tangent to the outer peripheral surface, and such that the corners of the cutters mesh with respective V-shaped grooves in the counter-knife as the rotor rotates about its axis. The multiple points of each cutter encounter and mesh with the groove in the counter-knife in a sequential fashion.
