Abstract:
The present embodiments perform active volume restores on actively running initial operating systems in an active partition. The methods identify available memory within a partition, duplicate at least a portion of an initial operating system image into the identified available memory providing a duplicate operating system, remap access from an initial operating system to the at least the duplicate operating system image, store a temporary operating system on to the partition, reboot into the temporary operating system, operate through the temporary operating system and store a restore operating system into the partition; and reboot into the restore operating system.

Abstract:
A computer network server provides a customized media stream containing relevant, targeted advertising to a recipient according to recipient profile preferences. This is accomplished as follows. The recipient requests media from the server. The server searches for and obtains content that is deemed to be of greatest interest to the recipient according to profile settings of the recipient and the media content being requested. The media is then delivered to the recipient containing relevant advertising targeted directly for the recipient.

Abstract:
System, computer implemented process and computer program product for managing media content among a plurality of devices which includes the exchange of device status data among two or more devices. The exchanged device status data includes individual device capabilities and indicia of available media content stored within each of the devices. Each device determines from the exchanged device status data whether any differences exist in available media content stored among the plurality of devices and also whether any of the determined differences in media content will require transcoding to compatible data formats. Once the determinations have been completed, synchronizing and optionally transcoding of the available media content is performed based on the determinations made from the exchanged device status data. Any required transcoding may be performed either before or after media content synchronizing.
