System And Method For Identifying And Managing Overlapping Spectrum Use

View page
US Patent:
20140073259, Mar 13, 2014
Filed:
Sep 12, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/612289
Inventors:
Jeffrey C. Schmidt - Orlando FL, US
Don Joslyn - DeBary FL, US
Thomas C. Evans - Lakeland FL, US
International Classification:
H04B 15/00
H04W 24/00
US Classification:
455 633, 455 6711
Abstract:
A spectrum use assessment server receives spectrum use data from each of plural electronic devices. The spectrum use data from each electronic device includes at least location of the electronic device and operating channel of the electronic device. The server determines a spectrum use coverage area of each electronic device and identifies an overlap in the coverage areas in which two or more of the electronic devices engage in competing spectrum use.

System And Method For Broadcast Reception Management

View page
US Patent:
20140078403, Mar 20, 2014
Filed:
Sep 20, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/623671
Inventors:
Don Joslyn - DeBary FL, US
Santosh Hari - Lake Mary FL, US
Peter Stanforth - Winter Springs FL, US
Assignee:
SPECTRUM BRIDGE, INC. - Lake Mary FL
International Classification:
H04N 5/50
US Classification:
348731, 348E05097
Abstract:
A system and method for broadcast reception management. In some embodiments, a database is used to determine the available broadcasts and associated channel numbers for a given location. In other embodiments, a station list is determined for a specified broadcast, the station list comprising a first channel of a first station on which the specified broadcast is broadcast at a first location and a second channel of a second station on which the specified broadcast is broadcast at a second location. The communication circuitry of the wireless electronic device is tuned in accordance with the station list to the first channel in the first location to receive the specified broadcast. The communication circuitry is retuned to the second channel in the second location to continue reception of the specified broadcast.

Systems And Methods For Processing Spectrum Coexistence Information To Optimize Spectrum Allocation

View page
US Patent:
20130035108, Feb 7, 2013
Filed:
Jul 25, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/557511
Inventors:
Don Joslyn - DeBary FL, US
Mario A. Camchong - Oviedo FL, US
Assignee:
SPECTRUM BRIDGE, INC. - Lake Mary FL
International Classification:
H04W 72/04
US Classification:
455454
Abstract:
A coexistence data provider in a system for allocating spectrum to spectrum user devices includes an interface configured to receive inputs of available spectrum information, and to receive a plurality of device coexistence data reports that pertain to spectrum usage of the spectrum user devices. A controller is configured to execute a coexistence data application that is stored in a memory and, by execution of the coexistence data application, the coexistence data provider is configured to combine the available spectrum information and the device coexistence data reports to generate a network coexistence report that is indicative of spectrum usage within the one or more networks. Based on the network coexistence report, the coexistence data provider offers spectrum that provides enhanced user device performance. Spectrum user devices also can receive and analyze the network coexistence report, and retune to spectrum that provides enhanced user device performance.

System And Method For Mitigating Interference When Initializing Links Between Cognitive Radios

View page
US Patent:
20150189513, Jul 2, 2015
Filed:
Dec 17, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/573260
Inventors:
- Lake Mary FL, US
Don Joslyn - DeBary FL, US
Sekhar V. Uppalapati - Longwood FL, US
Santosh Hari - Lake Mary FL, US
International Classification:
H04W 16/02
Abstract:
Generic access credentials for use by a spoke radio device in communications with a hub radio device to acquire specific access credentials for the spoke radio device are determined by a spectrum management server to minimize the possibility of creating undesirable interference to other radio systems. The spectrum management server determines a coverage area of the hub radio device and determines sub-regions of the coverage area; determines a generic access transmit power limit for each sub-region of the coverage area for one or more channels on which the hub radio device has access rights to engage in wireless communications; and transmits the generic access transmit power level for each sub-region and channel combination to the hub radio device.

System And Method For Policy-Based Spectrum Management

View page
US Patent:
20150087347, Mar 26, 2015
Filed:
Sep 18, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/490102
Inventors:
- Lake Mary FL, US
Don Joslyn - DeBary FL, US
Jeffery C. Schmidt - Orlando FL, US
International Classification:
H04W 16/14
H04W 48/02
US Classification:
455509
Abstract:
Managing spectrum use in a managed area where spectrum use is carried out by an incumbent user on an intermittent basis includes sensing spectrum use in the managed area and determining that the incumbent spectrum user is actively using spectrum in the managed area by analyzing sensor data. A spectrum use policy associated with characteristics of the determined spectrum use is made and one or more secondary spectrum users are notified that spectrum defined in the identified policy is unavailable for use by the one or more secondary users.
