Spare Tire Carrier And Winch

View page
US Patent:
52286614, Jul 20, 1993
Filed:
Jan 9, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/639488
Inventors:
Richard Bigham - Eaton Rapids MI
Cami Shadley - Jackson MI
Assignee:
ITT Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
B66D 506
US Classification:
254276
Abstract:
A spare tire lift-and-carry apparatus for use on a vehicle includes a rotatable input shaft supported by a housing. A transmission mechanism is provided for transferring torque from the rotatable input shaft to a cable storage member driven in rotation about a longitudinal axis to retract and deploy a cable having a rim retainer connected at one end. The rim retainer is adapted to engage a spare tire or wheel assembly. A clutch mechanism can be provided for allowing transfer of rotation in both rotational directions from the input shaft to the cable storage mechanism, while preventing transfer of rotation through the clutch mechanism in either rotational direction originating from the cable storage mechanism, rather than the input shaft. A torque override mechanism can also be provided between the input shaft and the transmission mechanism. A stop mechanism can also be provided to prevent further rotation of the cable storage mechanism after the cable is fully deployed, or after the cable has been fully retracted.

Door Hinge

US Patent:
47441275, May 17, 1988
Filed:
Aug 11, 1986
Appl. No.:
6/895046
Inventors:
Cami L. Shadley - Jackson MI
Assignee:
ITT Corporation - New York NY
International Classification:
E05D 1550
E05D 308
US Classification:
16232
Abstract:
A door hinge is disclosed including a door mounting bracket and a body mounting bracket interconnected by an intermediate member pivotably attached to each bracket. A locking arrangement including a pivotable locking arm on the intermediate member simultaneously locks and unlocks the intermediate member with the respective mounting bracket at the closed and an intermediate open position of the door providing for sequential, reversible pivotable movement of the intermediate member and door bracket as a unit about the pivot point on the body bracket between the closed and intermediate open position and independent reversible pivotable movement of the door mounting bracket between the intermediate open position and fully open position of the door.
