View page
US Patent:
6980120, Dec 27, 2005
Filed:
Mar 9, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/803272
Inventors:
Philip K. Yu - Rowland Heights CA, US
Calvin C. Fang - Rowland Heights CA, US
International Classification:
G08L019/00
H04M001/00
H04M003/00
H04B001/38
US Classification:
34082569, 455563, 4555611, 455418, 4555561
Abstract:
An improved universal remote control unit (URC) for home entertainment units. The URC has the typical remote controller module for controlling appliances such as TV, stereo, VCR or DVD. Additionally, the URC has a built-in digital recorder module for recording the consumer's voice, or any audio messages from the appliances. The digital recorder module can be implemented with a microphone, a voice recorder chip and a speaker, all integrated with the URC unit. The digital recorder module can even use the battery that is typically used by the URC. The URC alternatively can be implemented with a memory and display screen, coupled to the number keys. Such arrangement allows the telephone information to be punched in, using the numeric keys on the URC, stored in the memory for display.

Abstract:
An improved universal remote control unit (URC) for controlling electronic appliance units. The URC unit has the typical remote controller module for controlling appliances such as TV, stereo, VCR or DVD. Additionally, the URC has a scratch pad memory for storing telephone numbers and web site information entered through the URC unit's alphanumeric keys. When activated, the key pad entries are stored in the memory, instead of being used to control the appliance. The URC unit further has a digital recorder module that can be implemented with a microphone, a voice recorder chip and a speaker, all integrated with the URC unit. The digital recorder module can even use the battery that is typically used by the URC unit. The URC unit further has a display screen to display the information stored in and recalled from the memory.

US Patent:
7161911, Jan 9, 2007
Filed:
Mar 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/099050
Inventors:
Calvin Fang - Milpitas CA, US
Yi Cheng - San Jose CA, US
William Lo - Cupertino CA, US
Assignee:
Marvell International, Ltd - Hamilton
International Classification:
H04B 1/44
H04L 12/56
US Classification:
370282, 370419
Abstract:
A first network device is provided in communications with a second network device comprising a physical layer device. The physical layer device comprises a transmitter to transmit an autonegotiation signal to the second network device, a receiver to receive a received signal from the second network device, and a controller comprising an autonegotiation controller to set a highest common data rate between the first network device and the second network device. The autonegotiation controller compares the autonegotiation signal and the received signal and selectively prevents the autonegotiation when the autonegotiation signal is the same as the received signal.

International Classification:
H04Q 5/22
US Classification:
713310, 379307, 379322, 379323, 379413
Abstract:
A first network device supplies power to a second network device in communication therewith. The first network device comprises a physical layer device which includes a pulse generator to generate a test signal comprising n sub-pulses to be transmitted to the second network device, wherein in n being greater than 2. A detector is responsive to the second network device, and a controller is in communication with the detector and the pulse generator. When the detector detects j pulses which are greater than a predetermined threshold, 1≦j

100Base-Fx Serializer/Deserializer Using 10000Base-X Serializer/Deserializer

US Patent:
7277031, Oct 2, 2007
Filed:
May 11, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/843285
Inventors:
William Lo - Cupertino CA, US
Calvin Fang - Milpitas CA, US
Assignee:
Marvell International Ltd. - Hamilton
International Classification:
H03M 9/00
H04J 3/02
US Classification:
341100, 341101, 370463, 370465
Abstract:
A physical layer device includes a deserializer that deserializes one of first and second data streams. The first data stream includes successive N-bit sequences having one of all ones and all zeros. A converter oversamples the first data stream, identifies edge transitions in the first data stream to locate N adjacent bits that substantially align with the N-bit sequences, and samples at least one bit of the N adjacent bits.

341101, 341100, 341141, 370386, 370389, 370445, 370463, 370468
Abstract:
A transmit path in a physical layer device comprises a first transmit encoding device that has N outputs, that receives a first data stream at a first data rate and that performs a first type of encoding on the first data stream. A second transmit encoding device has an output, receives a second data stream at a second data rate and performs a second type of encoding on the second data stream. The first data rate is N times the second data rate. An output selector has a first set of N inputs that communicates with the N outputs of the first transmit encoding device, a second set of N inputs that communicate with the output of the second transmit encoding device and N outputs. The output selector selectively connects one of the first and second sets of N inputs to the N outputs.
