Filed:
Feb 7, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/348795
Inventors:
Andrew C. Lambridis - Brooklyn NY, US
Ashraf Gomaa - Staten Island NY, US
Oscar A. Escobar - Glendale NY, US
Assignee:
McKeon Rolling Steel Door Co. - Brooklyn NY
International Classification:
E06B 3/48
US Classification:
160118, 160 4, 160190
Abstract:
A two-sided fire door system includes a horizontal head track having a first end and a second end; a first door including a plurality of interconnected panels suspended vertically from the head track by trolleys arranged for horizontal movement between the first end and a point remote from the first end; a second door including a plurality of interconnected panels suspended vertically from the head track by trolleys arranged for horizontal movement between the second end and a point remote from the second end; and an endless chain in an elongate loop having a first end looped around a drive sprocket and parallel first and second runs fixed to respective first and second lead trolleys. A drive motor rotates the drive sprocket in opposite rotational directions to open and close the doors, the motor being blocked against rotation when the motor is not operating. A suspended weight closes the doors automatically by means of a cable attached to one of the lead trolleys when the blocking is released.

Two-Motor Drive Arrangement For A Roller Curtain

View page
US Patent:
8453707, Jun 4, 2013
Filed:
Jul 16, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/879151
Inventors:
Andrew C. Lambridis - Brooklyn NY, US
Ashraf Gomaa - Staten Island NY, US
Assignee:
McKeon Rolling Steel Door Co., Ltd. - Bellport NY
International Classification:
E06B 9/56
A47G 5/02
A47H 1/00
E05F 11/00
E05F 13/00
E05F 15/00
US Classification:
160312, 160188, 160313
Abstract:
A drive arrangement for a roller curtain covering an opening defined by a frame includes a drum mounted horizontally across one side of the opening, a pair of hollow drive shafts fixed against rotation in opposite ends of the drum, and a pair of coaxial tension shaft portions fixed to the frame and received through respective hollow drive shafts. At least one coil spring is associated with each tension shaft portion, each spring having a first end fixed to a tension shaft portion and a second end fixed to the drum. A pair of drive motors are operatively connected to respective hollow drive shafts for synchronously rotating the drive shafts in order to coil a roller curtain on the drum.

Rolling Door Assembly Having Pass Door Arrangement

View page
US Patent:
20070272367, Nov 29, 2007
Filed:
May 18, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/436780
Inventors:
Ashraf Gomaa - Staten Island NY, US
Darryl F. Ducharme - Cypress CA, US
International Classification:
E06B 3/48
US Classification:
160116
Abstract:
A rolling door assembly for selectively covering an opening in a building includes a shutter roller rotatable about a substantially horizontal axis and a flexible panel windable on and off the roller for movement into retracted and extended conditions, respectively. The flexible panel defines an upper portion having a first width and a lower portion having a second width less than the first width. At least one pass door frame is hingedly securable proximate a lateral side of the opening for movement between a first position, in which the pass door frame extends in a substantially transverse direction relative to the opening and a second position, in which the pass door frame is substantially aligned with the at least one sidewall. A pass door is movably mounted within the passage defined by the pass door frame to selectively provide ingress and egress therethrough and a closure system is provided for causing the pass door frame to move from the second position to the first position prior to extension of the flexible panel.

Coiling Door Assembly Having Guide Members With Narrow Wall Gap Opening And Internal Smoke Or Weather Seal

View page
US Patent:
20130306252, Nov 21, 2013
Filed:
May 16, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/472763
Inventors:
Andrew LAMBRIDIS - Dix Hills NY, US
Ashraf GOMAA - Stony Brook NY, US
Assignee:
McKeon Rolling Steel Door Co., Inc. - Bellport NY
International Classification:
E06B 9/50
E06B 7/16
E06B 9/34
E06B 9/00
US Classification:
160133, 1603681, 160271
Abstract:
A guide member for a coiling door or curtain assembly, including a rigid, hollow elongate member having a first wall, a second wall opposing the first wall, and a third wall which is perpendicular to the first and second walls. The first, second, and third walls are arranged to form an internal cavity of the elongate member. The internal cavity has an opening running in a direction of a length of the elongate member, along a side of the elongate member opposing the third wall. A seal is positioned in the internal cavity and attached to the second wall. The first and/or second walls have a stepped portion at the opening of the internal cavity which decreases a width of the opening by decreasing a distance between the first and second walls near the opening.

Multi Layer Fire Curtain

US Patent:
20210361988, Nov 25, 2021
Filed:
May 13, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/319387
Inventors:
Andrew C. LAMBRIDIS - Dix Hills NY, US
Ashraf GOMAA - Stony Brook NY, US
International Classification:
A62C 2/10
A62C 2/06
A62C 2/24
Abstract:
A multi-layer rolling fire curtain assembly includes: a rotatable curtain roller positionable about a structure opening; a multi-layer fire curtain wrappable about the curtain roller and to be deployable from the curtain roller between an extended position and an open position, the fire curtain having a first end fixed to the curtain roller, and a free end, the free end being movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The fire curtain has: a fire resistant inner curtain layer arranged closer to the curtain roller, and a fire resistant outer curtain layer arranged opposite the inner layer. The inner and outer layers are affixed to one another by horizontally oriented connection seams, to connect the inner and outer layers to each other, the connection seams being configured so that the outer and inner layers are spaced apart by a plurality of baggy areas formed between adjacent connection seams.
