Transparent Silicone Suction Socket

View page
US Patent:
55078346, Apr 16, 1996
Filed:
May 17, 1994
Appl. No.:
8/245096
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Ballston Lake NY
International Classification:
A61F 280
US Classification:
623 36
Abstract:
A clear liquid silicone rubber is modified by the addition of an elongation enhancer. The resulting silicone compound is molded into a form that overlies the residual limb of an amputee and provides an interface member between the residual limb and a prosthesis. A nonsilicone substrate is partially embedded in the bottom of the interface member and a nonembedded part of the substrate provides a connection to the prosthesis. Electrons are stripped from the surface of the substrate, an adhesion promoter is applied, and the clear silicone polymer is vulcanized onto the substrate so that it bonds to the silicone portion of the adhesion promoter.

Double Actuator With Bypass Lines For Synchronized Movement

View page
US Patent:
50726498, Dec 17, 1991
Filed:
Jan 7, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/638232
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Ballston Lake NY
International Classification:
F01B 2504
F15B 700
US Classification:
91171
Abstract:
Hydraulic fluid under pressure is selectively supplied to multiple drive cylinders that are interconnected to one another and which have bypass lines allowing excess fluid to return to the source of hydraulic fluid as needed. Each drive cylinder receives a double acting piston and each piston is carried by and axially displaces a component pump shaft as it reciprocates within the drive cylinder under the influence of hydraulic pressure. A free end of each pump shaft carries a trip member that trips upper and lower limit switches when the piston reaches its top dead center and bottom dead center positions, respectively. The limit switches, when tripped, send electrical signals to a process computer that adjusts the system by opening and closing predetermined solenoid-operated mechanical valves to insure that each pump pumps a component at a predetermined ratio to the other pumps even if the pumps have differing capacities per pumping stroke and even if oil leaks around the piston seals or otherwise leaks from the system.

Apparatus And Method For Dispensing And Aspirating High Viscosity Materials

View page
US Patent:
53284593, Jul 12, 1994
Filed:
May 6, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/058507
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Ballston Lake NY
International Classification:
A61M 100
US Classification:
604 35
Abstract:
High viscosity materials are dispensed or aspirated by an assembly of cartridges having plungers reciprocally mounted within them. A device for translating rotary motion into linear motion is connected to the output shaft of a small electric motor so that operation of the motor effects linear movement of the plungers. The assembly replaces hydraulic and pneumatic systems and enables better control of the dispensing or aspirating process. In a first embodiment, a single cartridge dispenses a high viscosity material. In additional embodiments, plural cartridges are employed. In the final embodiments, the apparatus is equipped with a suitable assembly of one-way valves and other auxiliary equipment so that it can be used to perform liposuction or aspiration procedures and irrigation of surgical sites.

For Two-Stage Quincunx

View page
US Patent:
49002554, Feb 13, 1990
Filed:
Jan 6, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/294108
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Clifton Park NY
International Classification:
G09B 1900
G09B 2302
US Classification:
434188
Abstract:
A two-stage training device for statistical studies permits the demonstration of advanced statistical principles. Balls are dropped from an upper reservoir through a maze of pins which scatters the balls into a histogram having that shape of a normal curve. The balls from individual cells of the histograms are dropped through a second maze of pins into a second set of vertical cells to form a series of histograms. Dropping subsequent sets of balls from many of the upper cells, visually demonstrates, that: "The Sum Of Normal Independent Sets Of Events Is Normal".

Quincunx With A Rearwardly Movable Ball-Stop

View page
US Patent:
50662333, Nov 19, 1991
Filed:
Jun 4, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/532441
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Clifton Park NY
International Classification:
G09B 100
US Classification:
434188
Abstract:
A Quincunx type of statistics training device having an improved ball-stop apparatus. The ball-stop comprises a base member having a plurality of forwardly extending pins. The base member is spring biased in a rearward direction and a latch mechanism is used to lock the base member in a forward position. Moving of the latch member allows the ball-stop to move rearwardly and thereby release any balls which had stacked up atop its pins.

Liquid Injection Molding Machine For Utilizing Silicone Compositions

View page
US Patent:
44747241, Oct 2, 1984
Filed:
Jun 2, 1983
Appl. No.:
6/500220
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Ballston Lake NY
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Waterford NY
International Classification:
B28B 124
US Classification:
2643282
Abstract:
A plunger injection molding machine for utilizing a liquid composition and in addition to the other usual features, a valve for allowing liquid composition to enter a barrel means; sealing means on the plunger which operates on the barrel of the machine so as not to allow the liquid composition to leak pass the sealing means out of the rear of the barrel means; and stop means to regulate or control the rear work movement of the plunger means out of the barrel means which results in accurate control of the amount of liquid composition forced into the mold. A preferable composition for use with this type of machine is a silicone composition and more specifically a SiH olefin platinum catalyst silicone composition.

Variable Action Quincunx Pinplate

View page
US Patent:
50805924, Jan 14, 1992
Filed:
Jun 4, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/532940
Inventors:
Aldo A. Laghi - Clifton Park NY
International Classification:
G09B 2300
US Classification:
434188
Abstract:
A statistics teaching aid of the Quincunx type. The device includes a pinplate which has at least one movable row of pins. Shifting of the movable pinrow effectively increases or decreases the number of pinrows on the pinplate. By shifting the pinrow, an operator can alter the shape of the resulting distribution of balls.
